I'm looking for a new gym rope and I'm debating between the 9.9 Pulse and the 10.2 Eliminator, both from Bluewater. The pulse has 7 falls and the Eliminator has 8. The weight doesn't matter much in the gym, but if I take it out on the real rock, will 280 grams make that much of a difference?

well..280gs is about 2/3 of a pound, so that not really much to worry about over the entire length of the rope.

if you are really pushing you self and are trying to shed as many grams a possible go with the thinner line.

if you are top ropping a lot or having a second follow a lot go with the thicker rope. It will be more abrasion resistant

if it just leading than I would go with the thinner rope.

the eliminator has an impact force of 8kn and the pulse is 7.84. So if you think you will be falling alot get the pulse it will give you a slightly softer catch.

the number of rated falls is not really necessary is deciding what rope to get IMHO because you will never likely reach the near fall factor 2 that is done on the rope during testing.

thanks for the suggestion. I'll be using it mainly for lead in the gym, so abrasion isnt much of an issue, but impact force may play in more, so i guess the pulse would be a better option
