Encase you were getting sick of finding hot deals for sizes that you couldn't use if you had to (like those recent size 3 shoe deals) we modified our bots so now we know which sizes each retailer has in stock and what they are selling it for. This means that you tell us your size once and we will remember it. From there on Spadout narrows all prices to match your needs.

For example: go to any pair of shoes. Select any size. From now on Spadout will remember your shoe size and modify all the prices to reflect this. Even hot deals are narrowed based on your needs. So the size 3 hot deals that drive you crazy are gone and the hot deals for your size 9 pop-up right at the top.

You can narrow:
- most clothing items
- ski / boards / wake boards
- all shoes / boots
- all headwear and helmets
- cams
- bindings

Enjoy,
Mark - Spadout.com

*If you wear a size 3, we love you to, but for some reason your stuff tends to go on sale a ton and drive larger shoe size people nuts.

EXAMPLE

Salomon XA Pro 3D
$54.95 - 120.00

If you go there, look right above the prices. There is a pulldown. Select a size.

Now return to Men's Trail Running and note that all your prices reflect the size you choose (like below, I wear size 9, so all sizes reflect a relevant price).

The pulldown next to the size pulldown allows you to select "similar sizes" or "exact". "Similar sizes" will show +/- 1/2 a size if your exact size is not available. "Exact" will show exclusively the exact size.

When you are looking at pants, or jackets or whatever there is a size pulldown menu on the summary page for any product that allows you to narrow down what you are looking at by the stores that have your size.

The site remembers your selection and as you are browsing other items in the same category, it will show you only prices and stores that are relevant to you.

If you want to switch back, click on the "show all sizes" link where the pulldown menu once was.

great addition thanks a ton. For a large guy this makes this site the first one I will visit now.

Though I do not see the option live right now.

No problem. It's live. Here's an example:

$54.95 - 120.00

Bsieve, please let me know if this doesn't work for you or if you have any feature requests. Costumer feedback has lead to the development of 75% of our tools so we're always open to ideas.

Thanks,
Mark

yes I did indeed get it to work.

The issue I was having was I was hoping to see it on the top page of the type (not individual items)so that I can only see the shoe options for example that apply to me, of all types. I didn't realize that you had to go through one more layer to set the preference. But once set it is cool that it shows only the size you choose on the top layer also.

This is what I am calling the top layer
spadout.com/store.php?cat_view=1&cat_id=74

It does exactly what I hoped (I think) just didn't understand the setup but once you uploaded the pictures it is not an issue.

If this doesn't make sense for whatever reason just let me know. Also btw thanks just got a new pair of vasque delivered today from a great deal I found here.

Also since you asked I was playing with it and a suggestion. If at all possible can you have the sort order take into account the size preference. For example if I search shoes with size 12 preference and order by cost it orders on cost of any size. This actually may not be easy to do depending on programming but would be a nice feature. For example I need a new pair of cheap climbing shoes and really don't care to much what brand it would be nice to easily search the cheapest avaiable in my size.

Actually we have an old tool in place for this:
Discount Climbing Shoes, Size 12

This is exclusive to climbing shoes though.

You are 100% correct that the sort feature fails when the size constraints are in place. I made a note on the to do list. We use a large system of caches to make the queries fast enough so it shouldn't be a problem. I will have this live by the end of the week.

Thanks again and keep the ideas flowing if you have any.

Thanks,
Mark

BTW .. send us ur mailing address and I'll make sure you get a Spadout beer glass if you would like (contact us). This type of feedback is invaluable.

Couple things

1) I tried to contact through the link above and for me I can not see the confirm image letter. It doesn't load in either firefox or explorer for some reason.

2) How many different variables for sizes do you have. I noticed that for shoes I have different sizes for climbing and normal shoes which is great. However for clothing when I put in XX large shirts it lists the xxl size for pants as well. Then if I change pants it changes shirts also.

What I thought would be nice would be a page to set all of them at once. So the page opens and lists them all with common names (shirt size, jacket size, climbing shoe size, etc...) and then just set them all at once. And kind of have a control page for them if possible.

Just a suggestion, while I know a little about computers I don't understand all the programming, but keep up the good work. I honestly really do like the system and I see tons of great uses for it.

1. fixed

2. ya it's based on the top level category. so if you specify XL for men's sizes everything that uses a S,M,L... format will be effected (but women's / kid's will not). Thanks again and I'll post when I get the code stable.

Good to hear! We are working on the new features (we're actually going to bring out some new features at the same time hence the delay). And thanks for mentioning about MountainProject. We help cover their hosting costs. A great site for those who haven't checked it out: Mountain Project.
