Anyone out there using the new Mad Rock Belay Device http://www.madrockclimbing.com/madlockbelaydevice.aspx (this one)? I've only found one review that seemed like it was almost perfect except for one significant flaw, but I'd like to hear more about it. I mean, it's only 20 bucks, so even if it didn't work out it's not a huge loss, but seeing as how I'm a poor student it would be nice to know before I buy. Any suggestions?

I haven't actually seen it in person yet (I'll check out next month at Outdoor Retailer). The idea of a removable pin just doesn't sound good on paper so I'd need to see it. I can appreciate the advantage of a 8.5-11 range though.
"The innovative 45 degree loading design allows for the belay to lower the second climber without creating a leverage advantage".
This product really needs a video because it's hard to imagine how the 45 degree angle would allow you to unload the second out of lock mode.
Just by looking at the pictures though ... those hooks sound like they are purely cosmetic... why? Those look like a real good thing to get caught up in a rack.
Cool concept as a whole though. If the 45 degree angle concept works to unload a auto-blocking 2nd then this product could be huge. But I'm not even 100% sure if that's what they're saying with their description.
