Thanks! So far the discounts looks paltry at best. I do most of my gear shopping during thnxgiving to xmas which is right after rock climbing season and before ice season. Hopefully, we get some good deals.

EMS always give out 20% OFF this time of the year. Too bad I live in NY so the 8% tax automatically kills the deal for me. If you wait, EMS gives you 20% plus $25 gear card when you spend more than $100 (gift card only valid during certain periods, usually 1/1 - 2/1 the following year).

Same goes for moosejaw.com, sometime you even get 20% off sale items.

Altrec.com sometimes give out 25% off for one day sale coupons.

BTW, 10-15% off coupons are out there almost every day of the year. moosejaw has CJ10/CJ15 for a long time. backcountry.com sends out random ones all the time. I wouldn't consider anything less than 25% as a good black friday deal.

I do have confirmation that Altrec will be doing another code this year. 15-20% off is what I'm being told. But they are waiting until the last minute to announce specifics.

Regarding the EMS. It's hard to say. Last year they did do that. Keep in mind though that one of the reasons why there are even steeper discounts in January is because that's what they have left (so limited styles and models). So you can't guarantee stock. But if you're waiting on something common it can be a good time to buy.

No. I'm saying if you need it NOW, 20% is as good as it'll get. If you are willing to wait, then you "prolly" can get a better deal, but no one can guarantee you that.
