 | I'm looking for a strong, light weight 4 season tent that will take a beating in high winds. I'm looking at the Black Diamond - Bibler Fitzroy Tent and the Mountain Hardwear EV 2 Tent. Has anyone ever used one of these tents in high winds?

 | Never used EV2, but I checked one out at a shop once, it is really a one person tent. My friends used EV3 on Aconcagua, it took a decent beating, while my partner and I used Marmot Alpinist. At night at high camp, it sounds like freight trains coming pass. EV3, Marmot Alpinist, and Fitzroy will most definitely withstand high winds. But if i was to do Denali or any expedition, it'll be double wall like Trango 2. EV2/3 don't have vestibule, so if it's snowing, inside your tent will get wet. If I have my choice, I would go with Hilleberg. Single wall, bomb-proof and easy to set up.

 | As an avid winter camper both hot and cold tent, the weight doesn't mean that much until you define your sleeping system and your personal habits. Cold camping I carry a heavy Kelty ORB2 and sleep with all the vents open even at -30. High winds and deep snow in Mammoth Hotsprings area of Yellowstone.
I don't mind taking my gloves down to my fleece liners to erect the tent, wind rattle through the tent or being chilly while I sleep.
Keeping gear out of the snow I don't worry about a big vestibule, I'm not throwing a party and I can store gear under a seperate tarp or my drag sled. Also I camp alone alot so the whole tent is mine. Size is not a concern because you only have to heat your fart sack, unless you are sleeping on thin ledges high up.
